Who we are
LafiyaCare Technologies Ltd (“LafiyaCare”, “we”) runs this platform, which connects patients in Nigeria with independent doctors, nurses, pharmacies, laboratories and hospitals. We are the data controller for the account information you give us. Practitioners you consult remain responsible for their own clinical records.
What we collect
Account details: your phone number, name, date of birth, sex, state and LGA, and your email address if you sign in with Google.
Health information you choose to share: known conditions, allergies, emergency contact, HMO details, the reason you give when booking, and records created during your care such as prescriptions, lab orders and results.
Practitioner and partner details: registration numbers and licences, practice location, fees and payout bank details.
Technical data: sign-in times, device and browser type, and your approximate location if you allow it when searching for nearby care.
How we use it
To create your account, match you with care, run bookings and orders, and let the practitioner or partner you choose deliver that care.
To keep the service safe: verifying practitioners, preventing fraud and investigating disputes.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use your health information for advertising.
Who can see your information
Only the practitioner, pharmacy, lab or hospital you book with sees the details needed for that booking or order.
A small number of LafiyaCare staff can access records when needed to support you, verify providers or handle a dispute, and that access is logged.
Service providers who host our systems or send SMS messages process data only on our instructions. We disclose information to authorities only when the law requires it.
How we protect it
Sensitive fields such as names, health history and bank details are encrypted in our database, and all traffic to the site uses HTTPS. Video consultations take place in a private meeting room that only you and your practitioner have the link to.
How long we keep it
We keep your account while it is active. Clinical records are kept for as long as Nigerian medical-records rules require, after which they are deleted or anonymised.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct, export or delete your personal data, withdraw consent, or object to how it is used. Email support@lafiyacare.com and we will respond within 30 days. You can also complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.
